Data transformation for end-users UI/UX, Strategy, Data Viz 2018
In Brazil, public education data collected by INEP is available for everyone, but their interpretation can often be overwhelming for end-users. In 2018 I took the challenge to restructure these public data and present it in a more simple and intuitive way for everyone.
I was the sole product designer working on the project right from scratch by strategising, conceptualizing, designing. My primary responsibilities included defining the product strategy, the vision for the product, wireframing low fidelity designs to prototyping high fidelity designs in a agile way.

Understanding the problem
Data visualisation is still scarce in educational context, more so in regards to public data. Currently, Enade data (degree’s score in Brazilian education) are made available for Brazilian universities through INEP website in a raw spreadsheet, where It’s understanding fall on the user alone.
Planning on simplifying the understanding of those informations for universities stakeholders, the focus was to redesign one of the company’s free platforms easing the access to relevant information.
During discovery process, interviews with internal squads responsible for data analysis as well with universities coordinators, deans and directors were held to understand what were the true struggles and pain points with data and what they really need to see straightforward.
Over two weeks we gather user data and insights needed to create a complete restructuring of navigation flow, usability structure and a wire framing proposition for real user’s validation.
The dashboard was a stand alone project and with little time for it’s presentation. Hence, the agile methodology was applied to bring out the product quickly. Each step of the process needed to be as quick and assertive as possible. The process it’s shown bellow
User information and university core statistics were tackled first to ensure they have all main information regarding their reality at first sight. The main focus in the design of the homepage was to improve readability of the university problems and how the company could help to solve them, without distractions and guiding the user toward a better decision.
For making a more strategic product to the company and users, the secondary goal was to provide a way universities could compare their indicator with their competition and strive for bettering their results in a specific degree.
